to upcoming Events - to past Events - to Event Organisation - to ATE presentations (various languages) ---- The event organiser is responsible for the organisation of an event. As with project organisation his responsibility is limited by the event, and his job is complete when the event is finished. Of course, he may handle multiple events, concurrently. The tasks are: * location and booth planning * budget planning * organisation of all resources * material -- CAP forms, printers, Internet, banners * furniture -- desks, chairs * human resources (below), * transport, * accomodation * recruitment, selection and management of the Assurers * 100 Assurance Points plus AssurerChallenge on the day, * appropriate dress, * demeanor -- the way they deal with the public and our Members * the target is to be able to issue 50 Assurance points at any point in the day. * To find additional Assurers: search the WoT page on the online system, Post on the blog, create your wiki page, and post on the mailing lists. * running the event * briefing to all Assurers, * cross-assurances, coaching, training, AssurerChallenge, helping the new Assurers, * ensuring that quality is maintained and that Assurance Policy is followed, * ready to deal with minor issues as they arise * manage "traffic" and rotate Assurers on breaks * post-event * a report to EventOrganisationOfficer on the event * reminders to Asssurers to get their forms into the system * collecting up lessons learnt, problems, good ideas for the future, adjusting this documentation * coordination of all the above When there are more (than one or two) Assurers, the EventOrganiser is *not* primarily responsible for doing Assurances. His job is to step back from the detailed assurances and make sure that all else is running. Primarily, he helps the many Assurers to do their job by making them more effective. If he has time, he also observes the Assurers, coaches them, and helps them where possible. == Problems == If you have any administration problems or questions, you can consult many sources: * talk to the EventOrganisationOfficer or the AssuranceOfficer, or ultimately the Board. * You should be very aware of the policies. Knowing the policies will help resolve most problems before they start! If you see any difficulties or dilemmas, open them up and throw them to the Assurers. Ask them what the policies say, as all Assurers need to know the basics. Running an Event gives you responsibility to organise and ensure that things run smoothly. However, you do not have "authority" over Assurers or Members in the classical military sense of giving orders. Only the Arbitrator has ruling authority (as per CCA and DRP), so if there are serious problems, you have to file a dispute. On the other hand, Assurers have to be professional too, and should assist. ---- CategoryEvent
